It seems that you can only have a maximum of 10 live blog entries at a time - as a new one is entered the oldest seems to get 'wiped'. There doesn't appear to be any way to retrieve old ones? If this is a feature of the site then there is no point in considering creating blogs as a personal history of the village etc. as has been mentioned in posts?

p.s. Also, there is no formatting bar on this particular forum enabling one to alter font size, colour, background etc.!
Horror, horror!!!!!..........and the smilies don't work either!:w00t:

I've found a setting and changed the number of blogs shown to 20. It's only a temporary fix until head admin is back from his jolly! I'm sure that there's another way of doing things!

I also have no idea why there isn't the rich text editor on this forum! That may have to wait until his return!!

Well - I managed to tick a box, and this appears to have turned on the formatting! I now wonder if it was left of on purpose!!!

Many thanks Conch
Black & White just does does nothing for my image!

Seeing all blog entries on a page isn't too important but not having the facility to find old ones seems to defeat one of the original ideas of having a 'blog.'  On most sites I've visited, and sometimes had blogs on, you go back through a date file system (Jan, Feb, March etc.) to an infinite number of entries, can we not do this with this system?  I am thinking of one site I visit regularly where a member has a blog in which she enters news items on a particular subject which are trawled from almost every English speaking newspaper and magazine published around the world - her avarage postings are about 6 - 10 every day and you can go back over 4 years to when she started it to browse through them!
I know that at the moment there doesn't seem to be anyone with a burning desire to maintain anything like that on the H D site, but as I suggested before, if someone did want to start and maintain some sort of ongoing historical fact archive of the village it would have to have an infinite capacity.

I just noticed that the entries in the 'Silly Stories......' blog that I thought had been wiped when they reached 10 in number returned when you increased the 'show' number to 20.  This means that all entries obviously stay on the site but only admin can access them.  I think that there must be some way to do what i suggested in the last post then regarding some sort of date recall?

Hopefully Head Admin may have a wizzy way of doing this...

Quite often the workings of the site aren't stressed, or even thought about until something triggers them... so I guess in development terms we're probably in User Acceptance Testing stage
