 Grumpy Old Gastronome Minimize
Author: Charlie Created: 3/28/2009 6:09 PM
Forums are the ideal place in modern society to start a debate about all the things that get right up one's nose, but nobody seems to want to take the opportunity to let off steam about their pet hates on those, (at least not in Hadlow Down they don't!) so rather than invite others to join in a debate I'm starting a Blog where I can complain to my heart's content about anything I like, especially consumer concerns, and see it in print, on the net. I don't really care if anyone takes any notice or makes comments on my posts - it will just make me feel better posting it. I doubt if my posts will ever change anything or anyone but if they do it will be a bonus.

A Decent Kettle!
By Charlie on 7/13/2010 2:57 PM

I am sure everyone will be glad to know?!?  That at last, after 9 months, I have found a decent kettle!  Its design and styling is excellent, the lid hinges don't look as if they're going to snap off in the first few weeks of use, it's quick boilng, you dont graze your knuckles on a top handle as you do on those stupid non-hinge lidded affairs.  It's just great!!  It's a Hitachi KET2E and I believe the RRP is around £60 but I managed to get it in Currys, Uckfield, closing down sale for £21!  So not so grumpy today but 'boiling over' with happiness.
Thanks for those few comments on my troubles with the old Russel Hobbs one.

More Boycotts
By Charlie on 4/13/2009 4:58 PM

Tesco isn't the only retailer i've been boycotting over the last three or four years.  When I bought some dates from Julian Graves during one of their promotional offers I didn't expect an 'Added Bonus' which came in the form of a one and a half inch rusty wire nail in the middle of one of them on which I almost broke a tooth.  After the initial shock I started to think about the consequences if I had swallowed it, or perhaps even worse if a young child had got it instead of me!  Of course, I contacted the local Trading Standards office who took up the responsibility of contacting Julian Graves for an initial explanation.  After a week or so Trading Standards got back to me sayimg they had received a probable explanation plus an apology about which we got together to discuss.  After talking with Trading Standards they asked me if I wished them to follow up with a prosecution.  ...

One person boycotting a business may not make much difference but it doesn't half make you feel better!

I just spent half an hour typing out my first Blog' about annoying things and got 'timed out' without knowing it until I pressed 'Update'. How annoying is that for starters???
