Can we please ask anyone making a BLOG entry to keep the title as short as possible. We have recently had to edit titles from their entered length as they were causing the Home Page layout to be distorted.

The Ecology Consultancy have been commissioned to carry out a range of wildlife surveys in this part of Hadlow Down on behalf of East Sussex County Council. They form part of the ongoing works at Scullwood Lane Landfill Site. From May to June you may notice that there are pieces of roofing felt around the edges of Scullwood Lane Landfill Site and along the grass verge of Waghorns Lane. These are part of the reptile survey which requires repeat visits over the next month. They should be left undisturbed as reptiles such as lizards and slow worms may be using them to thermo-regulate and interference may delay the survey period. They will be collected up when the survey is finished. Thank you for your understanding. If you have any further questions please contact Ray Smith at ESCC 01273 482965.

At the March Parish Council Meeting councillors agreed to make use of the facilities offered by this web site rather than pursue a course of setting up their own separate site. Thus saving a considerable amount of taxpayer's money. Representatives of Hadlow Down Online agreed to ensure the security of the Parish Council's own dedicated pages on the site and to work with the council on developing a mutually beneficial channel of communication between the Parish Council and villagers.
The establishment of communication via a website also helps fulfill some of the requirements that will be required if our Parish Council should apply for NALC 'Quality Status'. News of which we hope to bring you sometime in the near future.

On Thurs, 22nd. Oct. the Claude Jessett Trust Company Ltd. was given planning permission for their Tinker's Park major application involving replacement buildings and a number of new ones after the chairman of the Wealden Planning and Building Control Committee expressed the view that the site needed to be tidied up and that it resembled "Steptoe's Yard"! Numerous conditions were placed on the permission, some were made after representations by neighbours to the planning officer in charge who granted a discussion meeting prior to the committee sitting and subsequently recommended that no more than two events in any calendar year, other than the June steam rally, should exceed one day in duration. The organisation will now be required to keep proper records of events and make them available to the local Planning Dept. Other conditions included the banning of all firework displays, floodlighting and amplified music outside of the confines of buildings. Neighbours are currently reviewing appeal and legal options.
