Village Youth Activity

Dear Parishioners Young and not so Young !

I would like to introduce myself. I am Lisa Scott and I joined the Parish Council in June last year. I have taken on the role of “Youth” I have 3 children at St Marks and an older child at Uckfield Community Technology College so I have a vested interest in this area.  I would very much like to re-form the Youth Club and would love to hear from anyone in the village, child or adult, who would be interested in discussing this with me, even if they don’t necessarily want to get involved. We have a small amount of funding and some equipment that we can use.
We need to decide firstly if this is something that the youth of the village actually want, and if so, in what form should it take and what age should it be aimed at. One idea is to arrange transport to a neighbouring youth club i.e. Heathfield or Uckfield. Alternatively just to a different activity once every week or two weeks such as bowling, the trampoline centre, swimming, cinema and so on……. Ideas most welcome.  Another question is whether we should have a Youth Council? This would involve a group of youngsters regularly getting together to discuss ideas and feeding these to the Parish Council. Again please let me know your thoughts on this.I organised last years Talent Night, which I like to think was a success. It would be great to repeat this, however with the help of the teenagers in the village, maybe they could make it bigger and better. If you know of any teenagers who would like to get involved in a youth group please encourage them to contact me on: lisa.seprini@sky.com tel. 01825 830225.
