At the March Parish Council Meeting councillors agreed to make use of the facilities offered by this web site rather than pursue a course of setting up their own separate site. Thus saving a considerable amount of taxpayer's money.  Representatives of Hadlow Down Online agreed to ensure the security of the Parish Council's own dedicated pages on the site and to work with the council on developing a mutually beneficial channel of communication between the Parish Council and villagers.
The establishment of communication via a website also helps fulfill some of the requirements that will be required if our Parish Council should apply for NALC 'Quality Status'.   News of which we hope to bring you sometime in the near future.

At the Parish Council Meeting on Tuesday 2nd. March councillors and some villagers studied pre-application plans for the development of the New Inn.  Those who saw the plans seemed pleased and even quite excited at the prospect of the pub undergoing a transformation into a hostelry that included a restaurant to accomodate 72 diners and interior WC's!!.  There were some reservations about parking and associated matters.  The full application is eagerly awaited for proper discussion and consideration.

Neil's Meal for 2009 was a wonderful and very successful village event - many people asked for another so 'Neil's Meal 2' was just about inevitable.
It will take place in St Mark's School on March 27th. and you are advised to book immediately to avoid disappointment..

A man has approached an elderly villager by knocking on her door, and after some irrelevant remarks asked if she could change a £20 note. When she said she couldn't, he said that surely she would have change, but she said she hadn't, so he then left. The householder had never seen this man before, so persumably we ought to regard him as suspicious.

Dear Parishioners Young and not so Young !
I would like to introduce myself. I am Lisa Scott and I joined the Parish Council in June last year. I have taken on the role of “Youth” I have 3 children at St Marks and an older child at Uckfield Community Technology College so I have a vested interest in this area.  I would very much like to re-form the Youth Club and would love to hear from anyone in the village, child or adult, who would be interested in discussing this with me, even if they don’t necessarily want to get involved.

St Marks School has recently received an Awards for All grant to investigate what people in the village would like to see the new ‘Community Hall’ be used for and to produce a short film which will be shown to the village in the Autumn.   We will again be working with Sound Architect (Music and Film) Ltd, the charity who helped us make the unforgettable ‘The Longest Lane’. Over the next few months you will be invited to contribute your thoughts and we would urge you to take part!

Should the Village Hall, and the Playing Field in future be funded totally by all those who reside in the village via local taxes instead of the present system of funds raised by the efforts of a small band of voluntary fund raisers?
