Tesco isn't the only retailer i've been boycotting over the last three or four years. When I bought some dates from Julian Graves during one of their promotional offers I didn't expect an 'Added Bonus' which came in the form of a one and a half inch rusty wire nail in the middle of one of them on which I almost broke a tooth. After the initial shock I started to think about the consequences if I had swallowed it, or perhaps even worse if a young child had got it instead of me! Of course, I contacted the local Trading Standards office who took up the responsibility of contacting Julian Graves for an initial explanation. After a week or so Trading Standards got back to me sayimg they had received a probable explanation plus an apology about which we got together to discuss. After talking with Trading Standards they asked me if I wished them to follow up with a prosecution. I thought that as long as they were aware and did all the things they promised Trading Standards as a reputable company to ensure it didn't happen again, then pressing for court action would be a bit OTT so I said I wouldn't demand it. Trading Standards wrote to Julian Graves telling them of my decision copying the letter to me with a suggestion that i would recieve a full apology from the company plus some suitable recompense. After four weeks I heard nothing! i sent a letter and another four weeks - nothing! Another letter and I still haven't heard from them to this day!! I've never even received a refund for the packet of dates! The rest of which went straight in the bin!!
So - another retailer that myself, my family or my friends won't go near!
